Responsibilities
Manage 8-12 illustrated book projects through all publishing phases; develop clear editorial workflows and timelines; prepare and oversee budgets; coordinate authors, contributors, photographers, designers, production, and external partners; lead daily editorial tasks; provide developmental feedback; research and acquire images with rights management; support design briefing; monitor schedules and deliverables; ensure consistent editorial quality and timely delivery; write and edit editorial and sales text; collaborate across multiple departments; contribute to content and strategy discussions.
Qualifications
Several years of professional editorial experience, ideally in illustrated book, magazine, or cultural publishing; strong interest and knowledge in the core categories; excellent English at publication level; highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects; experience managing complex editorial projects from concept to print; strong visual research and image acquisition skills; excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail; clear and confident communication; collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset; comfortable in fast-moving creative environments; proficient in Google Workspace and familiar with project management tools like Asana; German language skills, basic Adobe InDesign knowledge, and experience writing editorial content are advantageous but not required.
