Responsibilities
Take full ownership of core backend applications and define scalable, performant architecture. Guide the team through complex technical challenges, including legacy-to-modern system transitions. Collaborate with product leadership to balance business features and technical goals. Challenge requirements to ensure technical sustainability and commercial value. Mentor and develop backend engineers, lead hiring and onboarding efforts, and serve as the primary technical point for backend-related topics. Research and propose modern technologies, especially around message queuing, data normalization, and observability.
Qualifications
Proven experience in legacy-to-modern system migrations (e.g., Strangler Fig pattern). Deep knowledge of high-volume data pipelines, message queuing systems like SQS or RabbitMQ, and data normalization. Commitment to industry standards and simplifying complex systems. Strong skills in logging, tracing, and monitoring. Excellent project and backlog management under high-pressure environments. Passionate about mentoring and developing engineering talents.
