Responsibilities
Serve as the systems engineering authority within supply chain management, assessing drone components and sub-components at the full unmanned aerial system level. Conduct proactive evaluation, benchmarking, and qualification of drone components and suppliers against system-level requirements. Lead technical deep-dives and component evaluation projects collaboratively with R&D and AI teams. Translate R&D system requirements into clear component specifications and sourcing criteria. Build and maintain technical relationships with strategic component suppliers, assessing their roadmaps and capabilities. Provide feedback on integration, reliability, and obsolescence risks to inform sourcing and design decisions.
Qualifications
Proven expertise in systems engineering related to unmanned systems or UAVs, with comprehensive understanding of component integration within complete airborne platforms. Deep technical knowledge of drone subsystems including propulsion, power/batteries, flight control/autopilot, sensors/payloads, RF/datalink, and airframes. Strong skills in technical evaluation, benchmarking, and supplier qualification. Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with R&D to translate system needs into component requirements. Degree in aerospace engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience. Fluency in English required; German language skills are advantageous. Experience in defense or military UAVs, production lifecycle, and technical procurement are beneficial.
