Responsibilities
Lead the development and improvement of sustainability certification schemes for alternative marine fuels, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards. Provide technical expertise on alternative marine fuel pathways, audit procedures, and system documentation. Monitor global regulatory frameworks and develop proactive certification responses. Research and advance chain of custody methodologies. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the maritime sector. Design and deliver training programs for auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders. Represent the organization at industry events and author thought leadership materials.
Qualifications
University degree in environmental sciences, law, policy, economics, business management, natural sciences, or related fields. Minimum 3 years professional experience with at least 2 years in certification, sustainability schemes, fuel production/trading, shipping, or related sectors. Proven expertise in sustainable and alternative fuels, especially marine fuels. Knowledge of marine fuel operations and relevant regulatory frameworks such as FuelEU Maritime, IMO CII, MARPOL, EU RED. Familiarity with voluntary market frameworks like SBTi and GHGP. Experience with chain of custody methods (mass balance, book-and-claim). Strong stakeholder engagement, communication skills, and fluent English (C1 or higher).
