Responsibilities
Conceive and design advanced electro-optic modulators using thin-film lithium niobate technology. Perform comprehensive simulations including optical, RF/microwave, and co-simulation with driver electronics. Support fabrication tape-outs and validate designs through collaboration with characterization teams. Develop reusable design components to streamline workflows. Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure manufacturability and address process variations. Translate system specifications into modulator design targets and mentor junior engineers. Document novel concepts and contribute to intellectual property development.
Qualifications
Master's degree or PhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field. Over 3 years experience in photonic device design, including at least 1 year designing high-speed optical modulators in an industrial setting. Proven success with tape-outs and testing of modulator designs. Deep knowledge of thin-film lithium niobate device physics, including Pockels effect, waveguide and travelling-wave electrode design. Hands-on experience with photonic and RF/electromagnetic simulation tools. Good understanding of RF signal integrity and electro-optical co-design. Fluent English; German not required.
