Responsibilities
Lead development and technical strategy of micro-optical systems and components for next-generation optical connectivity targeting datacenter and AI applications. Perform optical modeling, system-level architecture, and simulation. Validate designs experimentally and iterate based on data. Translate customer and market requirements into manufacturable optical concepts. Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams including opto-mechanical design and manufacturing. Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and support manufacturing ramp-up. Maintain high-quality documentation of designs and results.
Qualifications
Master's Degree or PhD in Optical Engineering, Optical Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum 10 years industrial experience in optical engineering, optical connectivity, or photonics. Expert-level optical modeling and system optimization skills. Strong hands-on experimental background with validation of optical designs. Experience leading technical teams and interacting with senior stakeholders. Proficiency with optical and system simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, Ansys Interconnect, Lumerical) and CAD software. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and design for manufacturing. Fluent English required; German language skills beneficial. Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW are advantageous.
