Responsibilities
Architect and implement MAC protocols and routing algorithms for directional multi-node systems, focusing on neighbour discovery using narrow beam technologies. Develop dynamic TDMA schedules and coordinate beam steering in conjunction with physical layer systems. Deliver resilient multi-hop relay capabilities to maintain high-bandwidth video and control links across tactical distances, routing seamlessly to ground control stations. Build and maintain multi-node Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds with automated logging to evaluate network performance and topology changes. Engage in live debugging of mesh networking on embedded Linux systems and have practical experience shipping mesh networking products.
Qualifications
Proven experience designing and shipping mesh networking protocols for commercial or defense products. Deep familiarity with Linux networking stack at both kernel and packet levels, with strong live-debugging skills on embedded systems. Strong understanding of wireless propagation and physical layer design, particularly medium-access control schemes and TDMA schedulers. Preferred experience includes contributions to open-source routing protocols (e.g., batman-adv, olsrd, Babel), work with tactical mesh vendors, and experience with mmWave backhaul or other directional beamforming technologies. Eligibility for security clearance is required.
