Responsibilities
Develop and maintain detailed 1D models of electric powertrain components including batteries, inverters, electric motors, and thermal management systems using industry-standard tools. Execute simulations of diverse flight and power profiles to assess performance and efficiency. Conduct trade studies and optimizations on powertrain architecture elements such as component sizing, gear ratios, voltage, and cooling strategies. Collaborate with hardware test engineers to correlate simulation results with empirical data, enhancing model fidelity. Support control and firmware teams with accurate plant models for SIL/HIL testing environments. Automate simulation execution, data processing, and reporting through scripting.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Over 2 years of experience in simulation, modeling, or systems engineering focused on electric powertrains, thermal systems, or battery performance. Proficiency with 1D multi-physics simulation tools such as GT-SUITE, Siemens Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape, or Dymola/Modelica. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, electrochemistry, and electric motor dynamics. Skilled in scripting languages like Python or MATLAB for automation and data analysis. Ability to interpret physical test data and translate it into accurate simulation models. Familiarity with aerospace or eVTOL applications and additional CFD/FEA tools is advantageous. Candidates must be eligible for defense sector security clearance.
