Responsibilities

Design and develop opto-mechanical interfaces for precise optical instruments using CAD software (Solidworks preferred, Catia or NX acceptable). Generate technical drawings with strong understanding of GD&T. Understand optical layouts with emphasis on experience in ZEMAX. Conduct finite element method (FEM), thermal and structural analyses to support the Thermal/Structural/Optical team. Prepare bills of materials (BOM) including commercial off-the-shelf and custom parts. Manage prototyping activities such as rapid in-house 3D printing and coordinate CNC or sheet metal quoting. Participate in hands-on mechanical assembly, integration, and testing (MAIT) of precise optical units within clean-room conditions. Collaborate onsite in Berlin with a multidisciplinary team focused on aerospace and climate technology applications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace preferred) or equivalent practical experience. Proficiency in English language communication. 1-3 years of experience in the aerospace industry with understanding of environmental conditions, specific loads, and material selection. Strong skills in CAD and GD&T; experience with Solidworks (preferred), Catia or NX. Familiarity with ZEMAX optical layout software highly desired. Experience with finite element, thermal and structural analysis techniques. Hands-on experience with prototyping methods and mechanical assembly under clean-room conditions.
