Responsibilities
Assist in the architecture, development, and testing of a Python-based system simulation tool for spacecraft propulsion. Develop and integrate mathematical models for spacecraft maneuvers, delta-v budgets, and pre-sizing of propulsion system components. Support Graphical User Interface features to improve usability of engineering software. Structure, maintain, and validate databases of propulsion hardware components using JSON or structured data formats. Conduct software verification runs, debug physics models, and analyze simulation data for accuracy. Collaborate using standard software engineering workflows, including Git and modular, object-oriented programming.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Demonstrated proficiency in Python programming with experience in building functional tools, data structures, and object-oriented programming. Basic understanding and interest in space propulsion systems and orbital mechanics. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex mathematical engineering problems independently. Ideally familiar with Python UI frameworks like PyQt and experience with thermodynamic calculation libraries such as CoolProp or physics engines.
